The BKCL Coaches Meeting will be held on October 18 from Noon to 3:00PM at Johns Hopkins CTY in Mount Washington.

2018 State Champions!!

The Baltimore Kids Chess League had a strong showing at the 2018  Maryland Scholastic Chess Championships held over the past two weekends.  BKCL teams won two divisions at States as Highlandtown EMS #237 took  top honors  in the Middle School u600 section while the Green School of Baltimore  #332 took first in the Elementary u600 section. Teams from Roland Park  EMS #233, Mount Washington EMS #221 and Baltimore City College #480 all  took second place trophies in their respective  sections. Kevin Zimmer a fifth grader at Roland Park was the Maryland  State Elementary School Champion taking first place in the Elementary  Championship section. Some of these schools will soon be sending players  to USCF National Championships to be held in  April.    

BKCL Collects at USCF Nationals!!!

The Baltimore Kids Chess League sent 3 teams to the USCF National   K-9 Chess Championships in Atlanta. All 3 of these teams are returning to  Baltimore with hard earned team trophies. Roland Park EMS took 6th place  in  the u1000 section of 36 teams while Baltimore Montessori Public Charter  tied for 9th in the u750 section of 44 teams and Mt. Washington EMS  finished 18th in the u750 section of 44 teams. Two BKCL players earned  individual trophies - Adam Pennington, a 7th grader  at Baltimore Montessori, tied for 4th place in a section of 286 players  while Alan Guchemand, an 8th grader at Mount Washington, tied for 10th  place out of 230 players. Once again the Baltimore Kids Chess League had  the best results of any program from Maryland  at Nationals.
